Neptune field of Dreams
By Alanna Morgan
Neptune’s siren song will be pervasive this month as the ninth planet performs a retrograde station on May 22, 2006, just after the Sun slips into Gemini. Planetary stations intensify the effects of the stationing planet, dominating our hearts and minds with its particular "flavour" for about five weeks – three weeks before and two weeks after the station.
The Queen of the May will be the Girl with the Faraway Eyes this month as she charms and beguiles our gardens into glory. Neptune has been performing its retrograde station in the spring months since 1985 so we are becoming accustomed to a visit from the Fairy Queen just as spring fever already has our senses reeling. Neptune adds her threads of enchantment to the mix, making this a superb month for creative dreaming.
Those “where was I?” moments become an everyday occurrence for even, or perhaps I should say especially, the most pragmatic among us when Neptune’s “volume” is turned up. This month we are wise to make time for activities which allow for receptive contemplation and inspiration. Neptune wants us to dream and, by god, we’ll dream one way or another when it has a say in the way things play out.
Neptune softens us, dissolving our barriers and defences. If we are confused, it is because Neptune is obliterating the edges of some fixed idea we have been orienting ourselves by and that has lost its relevance on the inner plane. Neptune sweeps you up into her arms and takes you away. Whether this is a blissful or a terrifying experience depends pretty much on how effectively you can open yourself up to the positive ministrations of spirit. This can be done through meditation, gardening, long walks, contact with nature, art, and active work with symbols. Whenever you are in touch with the part of you that dreams, you are in touch with Neptune.
